15 March 2006 - Barwick Systems Limited acquired by Ascribe plc
This acquisition enables Ascribe to offer a complete administration and clinical system to a hospital for the first time. Barwick has recently signed a contract to replace a legacy PAS system at an NHS Trust where the National Programme has been unable to deliver. Together with the software from Ascribe a total solution can be offered to meet all the needs facing clinicians and managers today.

March 2003 - BSL is pleased to announce its inclusion in the Community Equipment Services framework agreement awarded by the NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency.

From April 2003 for Patient Administration System users there are Windows* versions of the Waiting List, Out Patient and In Patient modules with lots of exciting benefits over their predecessors. This demonstrates the BSL determination to continue to modernise its popular product lines.

The E-MAT System (Medical Equipment Management & Traceability System) is installed and running at the initial Dewsbury Healthcare site. Users are very pleased with the outcome and are busy planning enhancements to the product.
Direct Care are a Nottingham based company and they are installing a BSL application, based upon E-MAT, to assist them to deliver their equipment loan services, which they perform under contract to several Health Authorities.
Considerable interest is being generated from new prospects by both these Windows* applications.

Acute Patient Administration users in Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead continue to build upon their application running on an IBM AS/400* server. New Windows* based solutions integrate seamlessly with existing application modules.
Examples include automatically drawing data into Microsoft Word* letter templates from the Out Patient database and storing the result on the integrated file server, or at Dewsbury providing a Windows* based Accident and Emergency System. Gateshead recently installed a Windows* based Cardiology System which integrates with their AS/400* based PAS and they are looking to extend this.
The solutions implemented at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust site operate in the Citrix* environment enabling our standard Windows* solution to be provided in a thin client environment.

Benenden our valued private Hospital client continue to upgrade the BSL solutions provided to them. Many BSL developments which began life in the NHS are just as useful in the private sector.

BSL are delighted with the latest version of our prime development tool used to produce Windows* applications. Borland Delphi* (Version 6) has been enhanced to ensure we can deliver any Windows*, Intranet, Extranet, or Internet application quickly, accurately and to budget
